Claudia Cuentas is an MA and LMFT, somatic practitioner, an artist, an educator, and a researcher. She is inspired by the healing arts and the ability of the human spirit to overcome difficulty and transform it into new life. Claudia was born in Lima, Peru and studied music and expressive arts since childhood. At age 18, she moved to California and entered the Music Program at Chico State University, graduating with degrees in Music and Education.

Claudia moved to the Bay Area in California and studied with Anna and Daria Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute in Kentfield, CA. She graduated from Tamalpa Institute as a Movement and Expressive Arts Therapy Educator and continued her studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco (CIIS), where she pursued a Masters in Counseling Psychology and Drama Therapy.  Claudia also has training in Somatic Experiencing from Somatic Experiencing International and the school of Peter Levine.

Claudia has worked as a somatic practitioner and educator in California, Arizona, Oregon and Perú for about 10 years with individuals, children, families and communities. Her focus is healing, education, cultural diversity and trauma resolution.

Claudia's sessions are informed by tracking a person's physical body, emotional/psychological body and spiritual/energetic body.   Claudia focuses on tracking the nervous system and supporting individuals and groups alike to realize their self-healing abilities and potential. Claudia also leads workshops in cultural diversity, art as healing, bilingual storytelling, music and song circles for the community.

Her purpose is to support others in overcoming challenges and achieving a more balanced, concious, joyful and harmonious life.

In 2016 Claudia worked as a consultant with the Ministry of Education in Perú, as part of a pilot program to implement policies and education to prevent violence in the rural schools. In 2017 she founded the Canta Colibrí Project, a project that supports ART, as a resiliency tool, to restore health within the body, mind and spirit, of individuals and communities alike.
